After a few years of being unable to wear dreads, I finally reached a place in my life where I could dive back in about a year ago. Being a new mom didn't leave my much time for making dreads, so I bought some pre-mades from Doc Locs! First I got all blue to match my hair at the time :
Then decided to go black and went half and half:
I had been itching to try wool roving dreads out for ages, and decided to finally jump in and bite the bullet! Here was my first set ever, excessively long but so pretty in a blend of ocean like blues and teals:
Trimmed them a little and added a sidecut to make the summer heat more manageable - I had really missed it!
Shortly after this I got really tired of the black base and decided I wanted to go back to one of my all time favorite colors, Red. I made more Wool dreads in shades of red and burgundy and felt incredibly beautiful!
I really wanted to try a set made by someone with more talent than myself - my dreads were good enough for a first time wool maker but I really wanted something a little more sturdy and well felted. I approached Heather Wagner of Pheonix Fire Creations for an accent set in flaming transitionals - I was blown away by how nice the hand dyed colors were and how sturdily felted they are! This is my current set - half of the reds I made myself and half the flaming accents she sent me.
Please excuse the bathroom selfie, it helps show the length and beautiful color transitions!
That's all for now - but I have more sets in the works that I can't wait to show off soon! Thanks for taking the time to read through my picture heavy post.
Here's a bonus pic - You can just call me Red Beard!
