I'm back on the bandwagon today! I'm on Juice plus. Just to try and give myself a kick start. I'm also starting on a course of Xenical which is a prescribed obesity medication. Fingers crossed.

Never heard of Juice plus, sounds intriguing though, good luck with that and with the medication I'm trying to build up the motivation to do a good amount of exercise, started last week and managed a grand total of 3 days before my depression reared its ugly head and I gave up. I'm determined to get back into it again, but want to come up with some sort of weekly exercise plan to ensure that I don't end up overworking any particular part of my body. Still trying to figure out what exercises are safe to do daily and what should only be done weekly, any suggestions?

Thanks! It's a meal replacement system which isn't ideal for long term weight goals but I know how to eat and nutrition I just want a kick starter really. I know the feeling! I have depression too and my first diet day has gone to oops. I can't even manage one day Makes me so upset. I have a stationary bike and find that good to do everyday as it's good cardio but low impact on joints.

Don't worry, you'll get back into it I'm looking to combine cardio and some strength training, as I want to lose about 2 stone but I want to tone as well as different parts of my body are badly out of proportion with each other. My thighs are my biggest concern as they rub together, which feels disgusting to me and also causes trouser material to wear away which is extremely annoying. I have no idea if this is something I should work on every day or just once or twice a week, as Google searches keep bringing up conflicted answers

I do Wii Fit 6 days a week. It's not "difficult" but it's not "easy" either. Moderate I'd say. Looking to lose 10 lbs only. That would put me back at 125lbs which would make me happy. I'm not currently "unhappy" but feel I could use some exercise for health and muscle. I don't have a special diet... Cereal with 2% milk in the morning, sammich for lunch, dinner is either take aways or home cooked. Keeps everything in line for me.

Mowlnique Good luck! @cariad Dreads I'm happy to give you some tips if you like? I can recommend exercises that target specific areas you want to work on, like your thighs etc, interval training for maximum fat burn, and will be happy to give you a routine full of super sets that combine strength training and cardio for maximum toning and weight loss. I don't want to write an essay here, but do you have a weight goal and a time frame? It will be easier to give advice then. Also you said you managed 3 days before depression kicked in. But 3 days is a good run and your fourth day should have been a rest day anyway! So don't feel like you failed, you just needed a rest no doubt. Allow yourself two rest days a week. You mention you don't know which ones can be done daily..it's best to alternate your exercises if you want to exercise a daily, so that you're working different muscles each time and giving the ones you worked yesterday time to rest and recover. So I wouldn't recommend doing the same exercises every day anyway. And three things to remember: technique, technique, technique!! If your technique isn't right then it means you're probably putting strain on your back, and also won't be working the targeted areas properly so won't see maximum results. I also suffer from depression and it's really bad at the moment, so I completely understand how it can ruin your mentality when you're trying to keep fit. It might be good to make a note of your mentality before and after exercise and note the difference in mood, this will help motivate you to stick at it.

Thanks, any tips would be greatly appreciated I'm currently 11 stone 4lb and a UK size 14 on top, 16-18 in trousers/skirts. I used to be a size 10-12 and was 9 stone at my heaviest at that time, so that's what I'd like to get back to. I don't have a set time frame in mind for achieving this, but for a mini-goal I would like to be noticeably smaller by Xmas. Hope this helps

Great! Firstly, where do you like working out? Gym, home, park? Is there anything you don't like doing (don't want to give you anything you hate or you won't enjoy exercsing and it will be hard to motivate yourself), or is there anything you can't do due to previous injuries? What's your home set-up like? I can give you cardio and strength training excercies to do in the home with no equipment, just using things like a coffee table and the bottom step of the stairs. If you have any weights that would be good though, just so as you get fitter and build your stength up you can start using weights so the excercise becomes hard again, like with squats and lunges for example. If you want to work out in a park, that's good too, just find a bench! And if you're a member of a gym then you don't need tips from me, the instructor will create a programme for you, targeted to your needs! You could lose over 2 stone by christmas if you stick at it. 16 weeks til christmas will mean losing 2lbs a week. That's the standard recommended loss per week. Diet is another matter. Maybe someone else can give you tips on a diet to go with these excercise tips. Because I think diet is different for everyone. But I will repeat the usual thing - low carb, low sugar, low fat diet. It's all about eating protein, with something with fibre in the mornings to keep you regular, such as one slice of whole grain bread, or a small bowl of whole grain cereal. 2 tblspns of oat bran made into a porridge is a good source of fibre My diet would be breakfast - one egg, one slice of whole grain bread, grilled lean bacon (or bacon with fat cut off). This fills me up and keeps cravings at bay til about 1-2pm. Dinner - not sure what, it varies. And for tea I eat fish and salad. For a sweet treat I have 0% fat greek yoghurt with maple syrup and either some chopped fresh fruit, or some crunchy granola or musli. But like I said, diet is personal preference!

Have PM'd you now, thanks Will post updates here, I'm planning on starting again tomorrow and am determined not to let depression issues get in the way again. I weigh myself every week and measure myself once every 4 weeks, so am looking forward to seeing the numbers drop in both cases. Do you ladies prefer to weigh or measure?

Started on Monday, messed up yesterday but am starting back today. Does anyone use Myfitnesspal, Caloriecount or any other similar site?
I've also ordered one of those calorie counter/heart rate monitors, anyone else use one? If so how do you find them?

I've been on a journey for a while now. In uni I did physical theatre which kept me super fit, (five years ago) for the first two years I let things slide, since then been playing around with various at home videos like 30 day shred, and going to the gym (but didnt like it at all). The last 9 months have really kick started for me, I've been doing exercise videos, yoga, I bought a cross trainer and I do pole dancing. I've been trying hard to eat super healthy (though moving house and work stress over the last three weeks have seen me comfort eating. I also have a kick scooter to get to work and back which I do between 4-6 miles a day on. Howwwwever, I've not lost much and only changed shape a little! I've been busier and finding it harder to be motivated. I've also not once started to enjoy doing hard work outs, which everyone says you end up liking!
I know I'm healthy even though my body isnt 'toned' so I'm happy enough most of the time.
I have the strange circumstance that I strip as a hobby so body image is a strange thing for me as in burlesque any body shape is very accepted, but for myself I'd like to be a different shape...if you know what I mean. Being short means I'll never be the shape I want to be.
That was a bit of a waffle.
How does everyone fare when working out in dreads? I find they seriously get in the way when jump training, or doing crunches!
