I'm mostly into metal, particularly darker stuff like black metal, death metal and so on. I really love deep growling vocals, but unfortunately most people I know see this as nothing more than disgusting noise and go out of their way to say the worst things about this style that they can. I also like a fair bit of symphonic/gothic metal, some power metal, some alt rock, some modern folk and some classical.
The only music I can't stand is dance/trance/drum n' bass etc., rap and country.

I love me some metal i love deep gutteral vocals to a point, and mostly cant stand the more high-pitched screams like a strangled cat i associate with some bands. Never got into black metal at all though. My favourite metal these days is southern metal from the US, I love the doomy sound of some bands, and the blues influence of stoner metal bands. I might be able to change your mind about some dnb. I got into darkside dnb because it sounded like metal lol! (The "feel" of it anyway, though there is some darkside I have that uses metal riffs like Slayer but it got gimmicky very quickly) Horror movie samples, intense, tough, choppy amens, dark, growling reese basslines. So much good stuff about it! Now it's different of course, I broadened my taste when it comes to darkside plus technology changes so fast that the sound is always moving forward. But I love so much dark jungle and drum n bass. Another style of dance music I love is industrial hardcore. All the klanging drums, and hollow pads, and distorted kicks! This is also something you might like if you like metal. If you like more symphonic metal and classical music then Ophidian might be the producer for you. Very classical sounding but with all the elements of industrial hardcore in there aswell. I do like some rap, but I totally know where you're coming from with that one. I have my favourite underground artists that I still oops with. But most of hip hop is a total lie.

I can probably say I like something in just about every genre, but I have a special love for foreign/non-english music lol... german and finnish metal, celtic and gaelic music, jpop/jrock/kpop/etc, french rap (I don't know why but I love Manau haha). You get the idea.

I used to date someone who was solely into drum n' bass and no other genre of music ever. Because this was all he played I got to hear all these various styles, but absolutely none of it appealed to me. I even went to a club night playing this style of music but it was just too much for me. Don't get me wrong; I'm not saying it's an awful genre, just that I personally don't like it

Yeah, liking only one genre of music and no other, regardless of what it is, is just...weird to me

I'm interested I think the biggest reason why I lean towards non-english music is because, I tend to appreciate the sound over the words, if that makes sense lol... It's hard to pick out favorites! haha, umm.. Foreign metal I'd say.. Oomph!, Blutengel, Rammstein, Falkenbach, Sonata Arctica, Fintroll. That's a bit of variety. Clannad is probably my favorite Irish group that is folk/celtic, followed by Anuna. Some fun from Japan is Diaura, Exist Trace, and Skywings. I kept trying to force myself to like Babymetal, but I just can't seem to. XD

I listen to a lot of different genres and a lot of foreign music too! Some of my favorites would be Cradle, Emilie Autumn, Dj S3rl, Living Tombstone, Evanescence, Versailles, La Dispute, Dj Scartat, Nightwish, Rammstein, Rise Against, Closet Monster, Ten Second Epic, Thrice, Hawthorne Heights, Sisters of Mercy, The Birthday Massacre and Schoolcraft. I also love Jpop/Jrock but tends to be more on a song than artist basis (except for previously mentioned of course XD).
