Hey everyone I just wondered what kind of install method you prefer? I currently have natural style dreads installed using the blanket stitch method. I took one out the other day and braided it back in and I think I prefer the look of the regular braid install. So am thinking of doing this next time. I just wondered what you prefer and the pros and cons of each? I wonder if regular the braid install gets looser over time? Whereas the blanket stitch is really solid. Thanks

Personally I pick my install based on the color of my hair and my dreads. Usually I just go with a simple braid because I like the added effect of my hair over the dreads but sometimes if my hair really doesn't go that well with the dreads or a transition adds to the beauty of the dreads I will use blanket stitch!

Yeah I like the added effect of the braid too these are crochet dreads so are matte, and my hair at the blanket stitch is shiney, so I think the braid goes better because its less noticeable. Thanks for your opinion

I use blanket stitch near the scalp, then switch to a regular braid. The blanket at the roots helps keep it tight, the braid the rest of the way looks nice.

Such a good idea! I was actually thinking of that today but have never seen it done so assumed it was either or. Nice one Emily! I think I'll try it that way

I prefer blanket stitch it holds better and I like the wrap look at the base... and I just throw the whole "natural/goes better look" out the window... even now with solid bright rainbow dreads and nearly black hair, people still think they are real.

I always blanket stich super tight, I love how well the braid blends in. People never know how they're installed After two weeks I usually take out and re-install, but if I'm in a rush, just re-braid around the hair line and the top layer to keep everything neat.

I'll go either way, but if I had to pick one I'd go with the blanket-stitch, just because it's faster and holds better. Also way easier for self installing! But if you feel you need to blend your color through the dreads, or just like the effect, a normal braid is lovely.
