Let's post pictures and explanations of how our rigs are set up for making lovely extensions. I'll take pictures of my own tomorrow.

This is my "Franken-rig"... I love it, and couldn't imagine making dreads on anything else <3 It's structure consists of the top part of a tall swivel chair (swivel taken off), a printer/plant cart (?), a coat hanger (both a complete one and a broken one), and t-shirt strings and bungee cords to hold it all in place. It is quite easy for me to take it apart and make smaller (in the case of moving). I love that it has wheels and I can roll it around in my room to be exactly where I need it to be, or out of the way. My Franken-rig lives in a room all it's own, along with my giant stash of hair, in what can also be a guest room (with it's own bathroom!!). All of my hair and supplies now live in the closet (in the photo I still have one shelf out in the room). I have also since upgraded the laptop to a small tv (and a couple old game consoles for taking breaks). This room is my favorite (and also my least favorite), some days I just want to lock myself away in it all day long, and at other times I just can't wait to get out of that little box. I have room for guest dread makers too, if any of you are ever in the Southern Oregon region ^.~*

Here's my rig with lots of nicely coiled dreads ready to be steamed to turn into curly dreads.

Here's my thingus. Uhm, lets see... Okay, my dad is a maker of things. And I was making dreads on a ironing board and brought up how i'd like more places to hang hair off of it/didn't really like to always keep my feet on the bottom of my board to keep it from like tipping over lol So then he builds me a thing. Mainly, we got a pegboard (+huge set of pegboard hooks and stuff) and a piece of wood (arg can't remember what type exactly. It's not particle, but it's not super heavy duty) from Lowe's. Also black paint. And 2 eye-hooks. Originally I wanted the top to be a shelf, but my dad was hellbent on putting huge crown on it. Then he got me a cabinet to go under it for extra hair packs, etc. Working out pretty well So, pegboard is uncut, that's the dimensions it came, the tabletop piece of wood was cut to be about the width of my ironing board, since I was like ehh that's a good width I suppose (kinda wishing it was bigger lolol but then I wouldn't be able to grab hair comfortably..) Dadman made a couple corbels to help hold up the table part with the extra wood from it. I guess I coulda taken a picture of it, but on both ends of it, there's a thick eye-hook screwed through the top, which is where I have my same string from ironing board days to make SE's. And also "bulldog" clips I got from target to hold the hair (le like so in picture) Now recently, which I forgot to include in picture, I made a "dread loom" thingy of sorts for DE's, with the two pieces of wood with grippy cabinet liner stuff glued to it. SO! Gots the hair hanging up, also some random "test"/"nope" dreads hanging up on the side. Fluff balls of extra hair I deem worthy of keeping for splashes.... I've got like 5 different kinds of clamps, two combs, scissors, crochet hooks, measuring tape, felting needles... Tiny bottles hanging out there for some reason. Also gorilla glue, which is 100% unrelated to dreads Yanno... tape, ribbon... fuzz roller tape cause this is also used as the random oops table. Battery charger. Big ol amazing steamer (Conair upright from Target) which i'm also using to hold the rainbow lovelies while they're still here. Honestly I sometimes just stop and feel up the crochet ones ARG SO GOOD and soft AND! I use a yoga ball to sit on wow this is extremely rambly. I'll probably redo this later >_> this is in my dining room btw lolol

sammiisynthetic That is just so effing lovely I can't even formulate an actual thought other than: I'm so jealous. It's so NICE looking! I shamefully still use a mini ironing board. I have been wanting to build an actual loom and get my hooks all sorted for months but I just haven't had the extra after paying bills to invest. It's mounten on a mannequin head stand that's viced onto my little station area, which is a makeshift high table my husband threw together from super thick particle boards. I also have a detached broom handle off to the side that's secured in a swivel vice, and that serves as my area for my working palettes. I work standing, but LOVE the yoga ball idea... wonder how I could figure out something that would be vertically movable somehow?!

awgoshh thank you :3 I'm probably gonna have my dad make me a cabinet with like 4 shelves in it to hold hair packs, on up on the right of it... Honestly a bit inspired by your big shelving area from when I saw it on fb LOL "yes, shelfy compartments!"
I've been kinda thinking about a different sitting apparatus lately. The yoga ball is pretty comfy, buuuut, not a ton lol I want something that's SUPER comfy, can move forward and back easily, and it'd be nice if I could change the height. So, I mean, basically an office chair, but comfy. Which seems nearly impossible unless it's for like $500 or some oops. Maybe a recliner type chair (not to recline in, obvs, but yanno the comfy?) on wheels LMAO

Dam sammiisynthetic I too am jealous of your rig of awesomeness! I wish I had room for a better set up. I am so getting my mother's husband to build me something not quite as cool as yours but somewhere close to it when I live in a real sized apartment! My set up is kinda all over my living room so it can be moved when not in use I'll get around to posting pictures when my craft area is less messy/crazy looking! I store my KK in my closet and dresser drawers cause you know why bother folding and putting clothes in there XD
